On behalf of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, I would like to express warm congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST).

UNU-IIST is the first international research institution established in China in the field of natural sciences, and is a model for cooperation within the framework of the United Nations University. Since its establishment in 1992, UNU-IIST, based in Macao, has been actively expanding international cooperation and exchanges, and achieved fruitful results in research, higher education, training, capacity building and policy support. UNU-IIST has established sound cooperative relationships with government departments, research institutions, and scholars home and abroad, making significant contributions to the development of the Macao SAR and the delivering of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

I hope that UNU-IIST can continue to conduct research, training, and exchanges with a focus on emerging technologies and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We will support UNU-IIST to leverage its strengths and make greater contributions to expanding international exchanges, promoting talent cultivation, and strengthening research capabilities.
